David de Rozas is a filmmaker, multidisciplinary artist, and researcher based in Los Angeles. His work explores the politics of memory as an embodied method and effective medium to conjure forms of resistance, affirmation, and restitution against cultural amnesia and structural violence. Working across media, his projects engage with counter-histories through places, bodies, and materialities shaped by regimes of truth and historical authority. His award-winning films have screened internationally at Visions du Réel, Sheffield Doc/Fest, True/False, Kassel DocFest, and the Smithsonian African American Film Festival. Recent exhibitions include MoMA, Getty PST, the Visual Arts Center in Austin, and UC Santa Cruz. David has been a Flaherty Seminar Fellow (2019), VIA Art Fund grantee (2020), Headlands Center for the Arts resident (2021), and a USC Annenberg Fellow since 2023. He is currently a PhD student in Media Arts and Practice at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
