Maite Borjabad

Maite Borjabad is an independent curator, architect, and researcher. Borjabad’s work revolves around diverse forms of critical spatial practices that span visual art, performance and architecture. Having worked as a curator at major cultural institutions including the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and the Art Institute of Chicago, Borjabad describes her curatorial practice as an “institutional infiltration” that takes place at the intersection of these spatial practices, as well as museum studies and institutional decolonial critique. Her most recent projects include the exhibition The Production of Otherness at D-Hub Barcelona (2024–2025), the year-long exhibition and public programming Clima Fitness: Rituals of Adaptability and Mutations and Planetary Mutualisms at Matadero Madrid (2023–2024) and A Permanent Nostalgia for Departure: A Rehearsal on Legacy with Zaha Hadid at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, USA (2023–2024).
