Torange is co-founder and director of public works. She is an impact-driven place-based design practitioner and academic researcher. She has 25+ years of community engagement experience advancing interdisciplinary built environment projects that bring together culture, community inclusion and innovation. Her work has helped secure multi-million-pound funding and has shaped place-based innovation across neighbourhoods, designing and implementing social wealth building solutions. Alongside her practice with public works Torange is an academic. She devised and currently teaches Design for Cultural Commons, a suite of post-graduate and doctoral courses at London Metropolitan University where she is also the course leader. She has taught at international universities including the Umeå School of Architecture in Sweden, as unit leader at the Royal College of Art in London, and as a visiting professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is visiting professor at UIC Barcelona on

the masters of International Cooperation Sustainable Emergency Architecture. She has delivered a TEDx talk on Harnessing the Power of the Civic Commons. She was a consultant on the five-year framework on the Mayor of London’s Specialist Assistant Team for community engagement in regeneration. She is a chartered designer and expert adviser for the Design Council, and is one of nine ‘Design for Planet’ fellows at the Design Council 2021/22.
