Reinventing the Museum at V&A East

Elizabeth Diller is a co-founding partner of the New York–based interdisciplinary design studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R). She has redefined the boundaries of architecture, urbanism, and the visual arts through landmark projects including the High Line, the revitalization of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and the Broad Museum in Los Angeles. Diller’s practice has been recognized worldwide, earning her a place on TIME’s list of the “100 Most Influential People” and the first MacArthur Foundation fellowship ever awarded in the field of architecture.
Catherine Ince is the Chief Curator of V&A East, the Victoria and Albert Museum’s new museum and research center opening in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. She is leading the creation of a twenty-first-century model for a cultural institution that unites collections, research, and public engagement in new ways. Her curatorial work focuses on how museums can act as spaces of critical reflection and civic imagination in rapidly changing social and urban contexts.
Together, Diller and Ince discuss their respective practices at the forefront of critical institutional innovation, exploring how architecture, curation, and cultural infrastructure can redefine public life today.
