The World Around Circles members were welcomed into BIG’s Brooklyn office for an immersive behind-the-scenes visit that highlighted the firm’s dynamic design culture.

Partner Kai-Uwe Bergman opened the tour with a presentation that introduced BIG’s global practice and outlined current projects, setting the stage for a deeper look at the studio’s process. Members were then guided through the model shop, where they encountered a wide range of study models, mock-ups, and material experiments that demonstrated how ideas evolve from concept sketches into large-scale architectural proposals. The visit emphasized BIG’s unique blend of playfulness and precision, with displays ranging from rough working studies to meticulously crafted models. Along the way, members met students and emerging designers contributing to ongoing projects, offering a glimpse into the collaborative, multi-generational environment that fuels the studio. The tour provided rare insight into BIG’s creative practice and the atmosphere shaping some of today’s most ambitious architecture.
