Joseph Nguthiru is a climate-tech engineer passionate about sustainability, and transforming livelihoods through positive impact. The Presidential Awardee for the best innovator in Kenya, his works include designing the solar dryer being used to revive the country’s pyrethrum farming, and a circular economy startup called HyaPak that converts water hyacinth (the world's most problematic aquatic weed), into biodegradable alternatives to single-use plastic products. HyaPak was awarded the best innovation in Nature, Food and Water systems at COP 28.

Joseph is also the co-founder of M-Situ, a startup that leverages AI as an early warning system for deforestation, wildfires, and charcoal burning. Joseph is an Obama Leader and part of 40 Under 40 Africa.
