Michelle Roelofs

Michelle Roelofs is an Associate Principal and Structural Engineer in Arup’s New York office. She has designed and managed a wide variety of projects, including academic, cultural, commercial, and residential buildings. Michelle has developed an expertise in novel materials, including mass timber construction. She is an advocate for reducing embodied carbon on projects through thoughtful and efficient use (and re-use) of structural materials. Her design approach considers the holistic sustainability of structures, considering embodied carbon, flexibility, resilience, and future adaptability. Michelle is also the current New York Office co-leader for Arup.
