Patricia Urquiola

Patricia Urquiola is a Spanish architect and industrial designer based in Milan. Since 2015, she has been art director of Cassina, an Italian manufacturing company specializing in designer furniture, and she currently serves on the advisory boards of the Politecnico di Milano and Triennale Milano.
Urquiola studied architecture and design at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and completed her studies at the Politecnico di Milano, where she graduated under the mentorship of Achille Castiglioni. She was awarded Spain’s Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts and the Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. In 2024, she was appointed a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. In 2025, she received the Spanish National Design Award for her contributions to the field.
Urquiola’s work is held in the collections of major international museums, including MoMA in New York, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Triennale Milano, the Vitra Design Museum in Basel, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
