Sean Connelly

Sean Connelly is an artist born, residing, and working in Honolulu, Kona, Oahu. Sean actively organizes collaborative decolonial projects in sculpture, architecture, film and cartography that supports Native liberation in place. Their work is hopeful for cultural resurgence, food sovereignty, homebuilding, and land justice, rooted in the ocean-earth-island-cosmos reality of Hawaii.
Sean is founding director of After Oceanic Built Environments Lab and the grassroots nonprofit Hawai‘i Nonlinear, which was co-founded to champion the recovery and advancement of ‘Āina (Land/ That Which Feeds) using art and architecture. Sean also serves as a Governor-appointed member of the Board of Commissioners for the Hawaii State Foundation of Culture and the Arts. Sean's work has been supported through residencies, fellowships, galleries, museums, and institutions worldwide.
