Studio Ossidiana

Alessandra Covini and Giovanni Bellotti are the founders of Studio Ossidiana, a practice working at the crossroads of architecture, design, and public art. Balancing research and fabrication, the practice explores innovative approaches in spatial design through buildings, materials, objects, and installations. The studio’s work includes floating gardens, furniture for people and birds, a museum on water, open air kitchens, and playgrounds for all ages. The studio has been awarded the Dutch Prix de Rome (2018), the Italian Architecture Award (2023), and the EDIDA Sustainability Award (2023), and its work is exhibited internationally (Venice Architecture Biennale 2021/2023, Istanbul Design Biennale, Chicago Architecture Biennale, and Shenzhen Architecture Biennale. Giovanni and Alessandra work from Dordrecht with a team of talented designers and architects, and share their home and studio with two birds, Coco and Cornelio.
“We thank The World Around for reminding us that the world is full of ideas about the future, and talented and hard-working people of all countries and generations doing beautiful and important work.”
