Archaeology of the Future

Lina Ghotmeh on stage at In Focus: Precarity.

Lina Ghotmeh is an architect, researcher, and educator whose practice weaves together memory, material, and ecology into what she describes as an “archaeology of the future.” Born and raised in Beirut and now based in Paris, she founded Lina Ghotmeh — Architecture, a collaborative studio of architects, designers, researchers, and artists committed to projects that emerge in close dialogue with history, culture, and the natural world.

Her work is grounded in a sensitive, materially attuned approach, where architecture becomes a testimony to place and a catalyst for transformation. Among her acclaimed projects are Stone Garden, a residential tower in Beirut praised for its poetic response to the city’s fractured urban landscape, and Réalimenter Masséna, a circular-economy-driven food hub in Paris. Whether designing cultural, civic, or residential spaces, Ghotmeh consistently seeks to reconcile nature and humanity, creating architecture that is at once contemporary and deeply rooted in its context.
