The World Around’s third annual dinner was held at the Refinery at Domino, a striking new landmark on the Brooklyn waterfront designed by PAU, the renowned firm of board member Vishaan Chakrabarti.
Paola Antonelli, Yves Behar, Joshua Ichor, Alice Rawsthorn, and Shohei Shigematsu joined executive director Beatrice Galilee for a wide-ranging conversation “On Water,” discussing the role of design in determining how we manage, protect, and relate to the resource essential to life on Earth. Following an elegant three-course dinner courtesy of Comparti, Galilee presented the Young Climate Visionary award from Cycle 02 of our Young Climate Prize to Mohamed Salem Mohamed Ali, a 23-year-old permaculture designer who traveled to be with us as part of his prize.
The space was furnished with textiles from Parley for the Oceans, a global environmental organization combining climate action with material innovation, and scented with fragrances from To My Ships.
