On the Edge is an ongoing artistic research project responding to the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network, a government expressway and dike project disrupting marine habitat and reclaiming hundreds of hectares of Laguna de Bay, the Philippines’ largest freshwater lake. Since 2024, AJ Raymundo has worked with coastal fisherfolk communities, beginning in Taguig City and extending around the lake’s periphery. Through ethnographic research, community collaboration and artworks made with salvaged material, the project records how new infrastructure and ecological disruption alter both landscapes and everyday life, and how residents continue to live amid instability. Work from the project has been shown at Areté, the University of the Philippines, WHYNoT and the Rhode Island School of Design.

As the project’s sole artist-researcher, Raymundo conducts fieldwork with fisherfolk, develops multimedia work through salvaged material experimentation, and independently coordinates multidisciplinary exhibitions.
