Himali Singh Soin is a writer and artist based between London and Delhi. She uses metaphors from outer space and the natural environment to construct imaginary cosmologies of interferences and entanglements. In doing this, she thinks through ecological loss and the loss of home, seeking shelter somewhere in the radicality of love.

Himali has shown at Hayward, Whitechapel and Serpentine, London; TBA21, Madrid; Khoj, Delhi; Venice Biennale and Dhaka Art Summit, among others. Her recent solo at The Art Institute of Chicago was an exploration of transnational nuclear culture. In 2025, her current research on the metaphysics of salt, as part of her collective Hylozoic/Desires, was shown at Sharjah Biennale 16 and Somerset House in London. The collective’s show, The Hedge of Halomancy, about how the British Empire planted a vegetal barrier across India, is currently up at Tate Britain.

The World Around invites us into a world of complexity, where nature is not apart from artifice, and where cultures, communities and lands are understood as entangled and messy. It does not aspire to return to the garden, but adapt into our post natural world. By this we learn and unlearn.
