About Summit 2022
The World Around Summit 2022, staged on February 5 at New York’s Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in collaboration with Het Nieuwe Instituut, embraced a hybrid format, blending in-person sessions with global presentations from cities like Osaka, Milan, Accra, and Beijing. Curated by Beatrice Galilee and Aric Chen, the summit featured architecture’s “now, near, & next,” spotlighting urgent global concerns—from climate and equity to digital innovation and cultural preservation. Highlights included Tadao Ando, Lesley Lokko, David Chipperfield, Formafantasma, Open Architecture, Himali Singh Soin, Amitav Ghosh, MVRDV, Monument Lab, DAAR, Miriam Hillawi Abraham, Top Manta, and Matthew Heineman among others. Structured across three dynamic sessions—“Agents of Change,” “Archives,” and “Monuments”—the summit showcased transformative projects in design, film, VR, footwear, books, and institutional innovation.
