Rushil Hari Koppaka is a 24-year-old scientist and entrepreneur from India adapting wastewater-treatment infrastructure to remove carbon dioxide and store it in a stable dissolved form.

Alkamy Carbon is piloting wastewater alkalinity enhancement in Mumbai. The process adds alkaline minerals to treatment systems, accelerating a natural weathering reaction that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and stores it in a stable dissolved form. By working within existing water infrastructure, the company aims to lower the cost of carbon removal while improving water quality and producing measurements that can be independently checked. The pilot reframes an ordinary municipal facility as a place where wastewater treatment, atmospheric carbon and ocean health can be addressed through the same operating system.

Koppaka co-founded Alkamy Carbon and leads its technology development, municipal deployments and carbon-market strategy. He is responsible for moving the company from its Mumbai pilot toward projects with wastewater systems in other cities.
