Eva Franch i Gilabert was the first female Director of the Architectural Association (AA) in London, a position she held from 2018 to 2020. Here she presented Architecture in Translation, a project launched during her tenure to build a multilingual and multicultural approach to architecture. With more than 81 nationalities and over 40 languages represented at the AA, the project sought to recognize the role of language in shaping both architectural ideas and the spaces they inhabit. Franch is now the founder of FAST: Foundation for Architecture, Society and Thought, an international platform dedicated to rethinking the future of architectural education, research, and practice.
