Palacio Pereira

Cecilia Puga is an architect based in Santiago, Chile, where she has led her independent practice since 1995. Her work moves fluidly across scales and typologies, from her widely recognized single-family houses to collective housing, social and community projects, and urban planning. Characterized by a careful balance between material experimentation and contextual sensitivity, her practice often engages with Chile’s diverse landscapes and layered histories.

Puga has also played a significant role in the preservation and reactivation of heritage architecture. She will present her office’s years-long restoration and adaptive reuse of the 19th-century Palacio Pereira in Santiago, a neoclassical landmark long abandoned and now transformed into a vibrant public institution with a library, exhibition halls, and cultural spaces. This project reflects her broader interest in architecture’s ability to negotiate between past and present while generating civic value for future generations.
