Rural Regeneration in Sonyang

Xu Tiantian is the founding principal of DnA _Design and Architecture, a Beijing-based studio widely recognized for its innovative approach to rural revitalization in China. She has received international acclaim for projects that reimagine traditional villages through contemporary design while preserving cultural heritage and fostering community development. In 2019, Xu was awarded the Moira Gemmill Prize for Emerging Architecture, honoring her contributions as a new global voice in the field. At The World Around, she will present her studio’s extensive work in Songyang County, Zhejiang Province, where over a decade-long engagement has produced a network of architectural interventions—including cultural spaces, bridges, and craft workshops—that support local economies, revive vernacular traditions, and propose a sustainable, place-based model for rural development.
