Ahmed Sajidan Jarjis Rafsan’s work spans humanitarian response, medical design, and climate research. He founded the Shirin Sajmila International Foundation (SSIF) as a humanitarian and health systems nonprofit in 2016, named for his mother and sister. Today, SSIF reports reaching more than 700,000 people in over 10 countries, supporting 200,000 flood-affected families, treating 25,000 patients and distributing 15,000 menstrual-hygiene kits to date. In Bangladesh, its more than 20 flood shelters host preventive-health workshops and specialized training in maternal healthcare during floods. In 2023, he launched ApexStride, a medical technology venture building repairable prosthetic and biomedical systems for humid, flood-prone settings. Rafsan also co-runs the Caribbean Studies Network, which trains island-community researchers and develops climate-adaptation curricula, with work presented at Yale- and Harvard-affiliated forums.

Rafsan founded SSIF and ApexStride and became a director of the Caribbean Studies Network in 2024. He leads program design, biomedical research, partnerships and implementation. Across the three initiatives, he reports work reaching more than a million people. He has also delivered more than 20 seminars on climate adaptation and innovation.
