Ichor Joshua is a hydrogeologist, climate innovator, and founder of Geotek Water Solutions, a West African startup using data and technology to improve groundwater access and climate resilience. After surviving a life-threatening waterborne illness in 2010, he dedicated his life to solving water insecurity in vulnerable communities. Through his work, he has led the development of over 1,000 boreholes and deployed smart monitoring systems that have improved water access for more than 100,000 people across Nigeria. His story and field impact were featured in a BBC climate documentary.
Joshua is a recipient of several prestigious international awards including the 776 Foundation Climate Fellowship, the Swarovski Creatives for Our Future Award, the British Council Destination Zero Award, the Xylem Global Problem Solver Award, and was named an IFRC Global Champion for Climate Resilience. Joshua’s mission is to scale sustainable water solutions across climate-vulnerable regions.
“Through the Young Climate Prize, The World Around didn’t just recognize me, it transformed me! With powerful mentorship and global visibility, the team helped turn my ideas into real impact. I’m proud to be part of a community shaping a more hopeful, equitable future.”
