The World Around launches Dispatches newsletter for Circles members

Since our first Summit in 2020, The World Around has continuously expanded the coordinates of the architectural vanguard. In curating each of our acclaimed public programs, we search for ideas that not only powerfully meet the moment, but whose relevance we sense will last long after the event itself has passed. 

Behind this process is a spirit of inquiry and an ethic of reportage: a commitment to representing the world as wholly as possible, by pursuing and platforming a diverse range of perspectives. Our executive director, Beatrice Galilee, often describes The World Around as “itinerant”: an organization that, in its ability to move, can hold a curatorial field of vision—and champion an architectural discourse—that extends across continents. With our redesigned website—and our new editorial platform, Insights—we now have more channels to open that discourse to our community. 

Intended as a supplement to our regular monthly newsletter, Dispatches will deliver a handpicked selection of videos and original written pieces to The World Around’s contributors and Circles members, highlighting ideas and projects that speak to the present. The newsletter is intended as an invitation into our process, curated with the same receptiveness and attention to the currents affecting the world as each of our renowned programs. 

With members in 61 countries across every continent except Antarctica, The World Around connects our community of contributors and supporters online. But social media platforms are becoming increasingly difficult environments for sharing the deep thinking and reflective conversations that define our programming. Algorithmic optimization tends to reward the most provocative voices, while discouraging accounts from linking out to places on the internet where users can engage with ideas more critically. Within this media ecosystem, Dispatches ​​allows us to reach our international community more directly—sharing ideas from global leaders in architecture, design, and an array of interrelated disciplines that hope to illuminate the world around us, rather than obscure or flatten it.
