African Futures Institute

Professor Lesley Lokko is the founder of the African Futures Institute and director of the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale. An academic and a novelist who has published more than a dozen works of fiction, Professor Lokko has taught at and led universities around the world. Professor Lokko founded the African Futures Institute in the city of Accra, Ghana with TWA alumni Sir David Adjaye, in order to shift the axis of architectural innovation and influence away from the Global North toward the Global South. This project addresses the need for a new model of education that brings together the arts, humanities, and sciences.
