SO-IL In Conversation with Philip Tinari

SO – IL is a New York–based architectural design office founded by Jing Liu and Florian Idenburg, known for creating environments that inspire cultural exchange, learning, and collective experience. With projects ranging from museums and galleries to housing and public installations, the practice is recognized for its inventive materiality and ability to shape open, porous spaces that connect people and communities. Recent work includes the Amant Art Campus in Brooklyn, the Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum in China, and housing prototypes in León, Mexico. At The World Around, Liu and Idenburg join Philip Tinari, Director of UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, to discuss their current and ongoing projects in Shanghai and Hong Kong, reflecting on how architecture can foster new forms of urban domesticity, cultural production, and public life across contexts.
