Foday David Kamara is a Sierra Leonean environmentalist and social entrepreneur, and the co-founder of Ecovironment, a climate-focused social enterprise transforming plastic waste into building materials. Born and raised in the slums of Freetown, Foday David's firsthand experience with poverty and pollution inspired his mission to tackle environmental degradation while creating green jobs for youth and women. His work has led to the recycling of over 450 tons of plastic waste and the creation of 85,000 eco-bricks, driving circular innovation in West Africa. In 2023, he won The World Around’s Young Climate Designer prize for his leadership and impact.

Foday David is also the co-founder of the Central Leadership Academy in Liberia, a school providing 21st-century education to underprivileged, displaced, and refugee children. His vision is to build scalable, sustainable solutions that address both the climate crisis and access to opportunity in underserved communities.

The World Around gives voice and visibility to emerging designers and changemakers who are shaping more sustainable, inclusive futures. Being part of this community reminded me that solutions can come from anywhere and that the most powerful change often begins at the margins. It gives me hope to see a global network of creatives reimagining what our built and natural environments can become.
