Stanley Chidubem Anigbogu is a Nigerian innovator and social entrepreneur passionate about using technology and design to solve real-world problems. He’s the founder and CEO of LightEd, a cleantech venture that turns electronic and plastic waste into solar-powered energy solutions for communities that lack reliable electricity. Stanley started LightEd after growing up with frequent blackouts and wanting to make sure others didn’t have to live the same way.
Since then, his work has reached over 30,000 people, including over 10,000 refugees, and trained more than 6,000 young people in sustainability and renewable energy. His projects—like the Glow Lamp and LightHouse Charging Station—blend environmental impact with practical, everyday use.
Stanley’s work has earned him global recognition, including the Commonwealth Youth Award, UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour, World Bank Youth Summit Winner, Echoing Green Fellow, .ORG Impact Award, and Swarovski Foundation Creatives for Our Future Award.
“The World Around creates space for voices, ideas, and solutions that often go unheard, especially from the Global South. Being part of this community reminds me that design isn’t just about structures; it’s about systems, dignity, and justice. I’m hopeful because I see a generation rising, builders, dreamers, and changemakers, who are reimagining both our built and natural environments with empathy, urgency, and care.”
