The winner of the Young Climate Designer award, Blossom Eromosele’s Nigeria-based NGO AllSpace is addressing the need to improve the living environments of displaced communities through generous design. With her AllSpace Modular Home, the architect is providing low-cost, renewable-powered shelter to settlements around Nigeria. Drawing their form from traditional huts, the units are designed to be modified and configured to accommodate the wide-ranging needs of spaces within the camps; made out of recycled tarpaulin and aluminum, each one can be fabricated for just $120. While providing safe, dignified housing in unstable circumstances, All Space is also building sustainable support structures, empowering communities through training and employment.
