Art of Misinformation

Alfred Marasigan is an artist and educator whose work interlaces research, performance, and digital media into what he calls an “art of misinformation.” Drawing from emotional geography, slow TV, and magical realism, his practice unfolds across multiple formats, with live streaming as a central tool for exploring simultaneity, sustainability, solidarity, and sexuality.
Based in Manila, Marasigan has been a faculty member of the Department of Fine Arts at Ateneo de Manila University since 2013, shaping the next generation of artists through teaching and mentorship. He earned an MA in Contemporary Art from the UiT Arctic University of Norway’s Kunstakademiet in Tromsø in 2019, and was awarded a Norwegian Council of the Arts grant for Newly Graduated Artists. His work continues to expand across geographies and media, embracing both serendipity and critical inquiry in search of new modes of artistic encounter.
