Youth Environment

Mohammed Anowar was just 18 years old when, after fleeing Myanmar with his family to Bangladesh, he saw hundreds of trees being cut down in the Kutupalong refugee camp. Determined to act, he founded the Community Climate Action Initiative, a hub addressing the urgent climate challenges facing displaced communities.
The initiative brings together a Tree Planting Campaign to restore green cover and mitigate extreme heat, Climate Awareness Sessions to educate camp residents about climate change and resilience, and Youth Leadership Training to equip young people with the skills to advocate for sustainable practices.
Through this work, Mohammed is helping to combat deforestation, reduce climate risks like heatwaves, landslides, and flooding, and nurture a generation of youth leaders building resilience in their own community.
He was part of the Young Climate Prize Cycle 02 Cohort, mentored by Gurmeet Sian, the award-winning British architect and educator.
