About In Focus: Radical Repair
In Focus: Radical Repair invited leading architects, anthropologists and landscape designers to reflect on the historic responsibility and complicity that the discipline of architecture has over the current climatic crisis, and therefore asks what role it can play in creating, inventing and enacting radical forms of repair. During this evening program, we asked if design can go beyond the ethical guardianship of the environment, to become a leading voice in repairing social, ecological and political fabrics across communities, borders and between humans and other species. In a rapidly heating world of finite resources, how can architects and designers build and protect our communities without harming the planet further, while also partaking in the radical repair of our planet?
The In Focus series allows The World Around to travel and partner with global institutions and delve into specific topics to gain a deeper understanding of how they shape—or can be shaped by—the work of architects and designers.
